Grand Canyon and Petrified Forest

Greetings! I have switched blogs due to the other website not working to well. SO - if you want to stay updated on our trip around the US, please subscribe. I'd love to have you as part of our journey!

This week we went to The Grand Canyon AND The Petrified Forest, both in Arizona.
Below are pictures from The Grand Canyon on a very wet, cold and cloudy day. Still spectacular!
We are staying in hotels for the most part and have racked up enough points with Expedia that we are getting some good deals. This place was only $42 a night!

Speaking of deals, we have found Trader Joe's to be a great place to buy simple meals to cook on our plug in burner and use the coffee pot to heat water for oatmeal. We also have a plug in cooler that holds our hot sauces (a must in this family), cheese, yogurt and leftovers.

Below are pictures of the Painted Hills and Petrified Forest  National Park. It was another cold, wet and windy day. The park ranger told us that the cloudy and rainy day helped bring out the colors in the mountains and the wood unlike a sunny day...so I guess we got lucky! ;D
We also took our girls miniature golfing (their first time!) in Phoenix. We found coupons in the display case of advertisements in the hotel lobby and paid just $16 for the 4 of us.
We definitely do a lot more on the road then we did in "real life". I was laid up on the couch for most of the past 3 +years with hip pain from the days that I did get out and move around - not to mention recovery from 2 hip surgeries. I'm not back to normal and often have to take it easy and we have to adjust our plans according to my hip pain, but we are still managing to experience so much - and I love it!
Josh has two radio interviews and one TV interview lined up for this next week. Harvest House (his publisher) sent an email to all pastors (approx. 2,500) on their email list who live in the areas where we plan to be at on any given time along with our itinerary, in hopes of getting him speaking engagements and opportunities to sell his book!

If you haven't read it, the best price is Amazon - Kindle or paperback. Check out his reviews and order a copy and let us know what you think!
